MUSTAFA Al Khan will be looking to secure the overall title as the Batelco 2,000CC Challenge reaches an exciting climax this weekend with the eighth and final round of the 2009/2010 season scheduled at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) on Friday.
The meeting will see some year-long rivalries decided, including that for the coveted drivers’ title currently being fought over by defending champion Mustafa Al Khan and leading championship rivals Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Al Khan, driving a Honda Civic, leads the competition with 116 points. During the previous round, a brilliant performance by Al Khan saw him secure a fantastic double.
Not far behind are Shaikh Hamad (112) and Shaikh Salman (110), both also in their Honda Civics, in second and third places, respectively.
The top three must also not forget the high-flying capabilities of Shaikh Jaber bin Ali Al Khalifa, who still has a shot at the title in fourth place, only 10 points behind Al Khan.
Fourth is Shaikh Jaber bin Ali Al Khalifa (106), in a Honda CRX. Veteran driver Abdulrahman Ghuloom (Honda Civic, 52 points) is fifth, followed by Raed Himmo (Honda CRX, 46) sixth, Tim Birkin (Honda Integra, 36) seventh, Mohammed Saleh (Honda Civic, 35) eighth, Chris Rabie (Renault Clio Sport, 32) ninth and Essa Al Kooheji (Honda Integra, 31) rounds off the top 10.
The remaining drivers are Hamed Kuzbar (Ford Focus, 27), Hisham Al Othman (Honda CRX, 23), Peter Turney (BMW, 16), Stephen Kellogg (Honda Civic, 15), Ahmed Kuzbar (Ford Focus, 7) and Osama Al Buflasa (BMW, 3) who are positioned 11th to 16th.
The round is being organized by the Circuit Racing Club in co-operation with BIC.
Apart from all the exciting action in the series, there will also be plenty going on off the track. Family fun and entertainment will include carnival booths, face painting, music, and many other activities, with food and beverages also readily available at the venue.

Tickets will be half the price for children age 10 years and under, while children aged three and younger can get in for free.
